Environmental Responsibility

Our Approach to Environment Responsibilty

WAW Credit Union is an accredited Waste Wise business and committed to a 4BL policy of ‘Environmental Responsibility’.

Central to implementing this policy is the WAW Green Team which is made up from 6 staff members. Green Team is responsible for implementing environmentally friendly initiatives throughout all 13 WAW Service Centres and monitoring our progress towards becoming a carbon neutral business.

We are also a registered member of "Grow Me The Money", which is a joint initiative of VECCI and EPA Victoria that aims to help business improve their environmental perfomance. When available, WAW prefers to engage third party suppliers who also demonstrate a proactive approach to environmental practices.
WAW actively encourages our staff, members and our third party suppliers to implement ecologically friendly initiatives in their homes and work places. As well as receiving information on environmental issues, they are encouraged to participate in national events such as Clean Up Australia Day and National Tree Planting Day, along with clean up days within their local communities.

Since 2008 we have been aligned with several local council initiatives by providing access to residents to low-cost 'green' loans for installation of  solar power generation panels and hot water services. Along with recycling paper, print cartridges, plastic and cardboard we are also a collection point for Christmas card and mobile phone recycling and, where possible,we use 100% recycled paper for all printing.
